The collectors of curios and relics firearms license (C & R FFL) is the license for those of you who are avid collectors

The collectors of curios and relics firearms license (FFL C & R), also known as type 3 license is federally licensed firearms for those of you who are avid collectors of weapons, with special interest in firearms that are 50 years or more. The exact definition of these firearms is listed in 27 CFR 478.11, Subpart B. This includes, for example, former military rifles of the First and Second World War.

It is important for you to know this is a licensed firearms collector and is not a license dealer. Therefore you can not sell their firearms as a distributor, but may occasionally sell them in the interest of his collection. For example, if you want to renew a firearm in your collection you can sell a course to do so.

To those interested primarily in the collection, a C & R license allows you to buy guns directly from a distributor and order a catalog or online and that he delivered directly to you. Not being forced to have it shipped to a distributor first can eliminate the middleman and the extra cost associated with this extra step. Savings you'll get through this more than offset the cost of the license. At a cost of only $ 30 which is the cheapest FFL license and will last three years.

To obtain your license from C & R will have to fill 2 forms that are 7FR ATF F (5.310,16), and the ATF form 5330.20. These forms are available online at the website of the ATF. After you fill out 2 copies of the 7FR, send a copy to the BATF with your payment of $ 30 and send the other copy to your local Chief Law Enforcement Officer. Check if this is the local police chief or head of your local sheriff department where you live. The other way, the ATF form 5330.20 is the alien enforcement is necessary to take up residence.

Once you get your license from C & R that are required to keep a book of "Bound" is a record of your purchases and sales of firearms. However, this is all the paperwork you'll have to try. No background needed and no need to complete Form 4473.

If you have any other questions, see the ATF web site for more information. The site includes a list of types of firearms covered by the C & R license requirements detail to obtain the license and information on inspections. In general, if you want a license to collect firearms and older set as curios and relics, the C & R FFL license is the need to obtain.

Perfect book on the Mauser Rifle

by J. C. Akke from Heemstede Netherlands on 2009-11-01
The book is a fantastic accumulation of facts on the Mauser rifle from the very early rifles on. The only thing I miss is a cross reference on models, now all is ordened on the base of countries. I should like an index on model too. For example model 71/84 was used in Germany page .., in Belgium page .. and so on. But it still is a bargain at the price. A real pack of fine information and fantastic pictures.

A good basic guide.

by Tamara Keel from Knoxville, TN on 2008-06-04
While it has a few errors and can't go into as much depth as one would like on any given rifle, this is still the most complete overview of military Mausers available, and a must have for any collector's library. No one book can do it all, but for general info and quick identification, this one is hard to beat.

Description

Original Item: This Antique gun was manufactured in the 1880's and comes straight from our exclusive discovery of arms in the royal palace of Nepal! The great success of the P-1871 Martini Henry Short Lever Rifle had only been marred by the occasional difficulty experienced with the ejection of the spent cartridge from powder residue fouling the chamber. The solution was the introduction of the P-1885 MKIV "Long Lever" model that provided great leverage for case extraction. In front line service for only three years when it was superseded by the .303 cal P-1888 magazine Rifle the P-1885 Martini saw principal use in Britain's overseas Colonial Empire. Each Long Lever Martini-Henry bears a date within the 1880's. Note: This weapon was manufactured prior to 1898. It is officially classified as an ANTIQUE by the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). It is legal to own, sell, trade or transfer without a license. It is 100% legal to export and can be shipped to most countries around the world. Must be over 18 to purchase. Display Only, not for firing.

A gift for me.

by Dardude from Medford, WI, US on 2010-06-16
This is a nice, well-written and organized overview for a starting collector of these rifles. If you are looking for very specialized, in-depth knowledge you may have to go to a work covering that specific rifle, such as the one I got for the M1 carbine and Garand. Otherwise this book should work for you.

reference only

Lacks substance. You may not find this book very helpful if your more than a beginer at collecting guns.

An enjoyable overview and great for beginners.

by Tamara Keel from Knoxville, TN on 2008-06-06
Most firearms books for the collector fall into general types: Slick picture books available at your local brick & mortar bookstore which are long on pictures and short on data (and much of what they contain is wrong), bare-bones price guides, and weighty specialty tomes that cover one make or model in excruciating detail. What the field is thin on are general overview volumes on one particular field of collecting that have enough information to be useful on a broad variety of arms in that particular field. This book is one of those rare volumes. While there are many more detailed works available on, say, Mausers or Mosins or Enfields, this book offers enough detail on the broad field of bolt action military rifles to be of assistance to both beginners and to more experienced collectors venturing outside their preferred field.

Good history

by John C. Sundberg from on 2006-03-18
This book is a pretty good history for bolt action military rifles, however a serious collector will find little value in this book.

Great Book

by Clark B. Timmins from West Jordan, UT USA on 2005-06-30
This is an excellent text and hits the target dead on (right in the old 'X'). It captures the fun and spirit of "milsurp" collecting and covers all of the major areas in sufficient detail for a typical collector. It's true that if you're a specialist collector in a particular area you will want additional reference materials--but this book does not set out to be the encyclopedia of firearms minutia. Instead, it's an enjoyable look into the collecting world. Having said that, it still provides a goodly supply of solid details that match my other (more encylopedia-like) reference works. It focuses on the types and classes of rifles that collectors are likely to come across in today's environment, and stays right on topic throughout. It also has a few pages on rifles that you won't likely come across... but would sure like to!Filled throughout with excellent photographs, and each major rifle's "stats" are called out in a highlighted box.The physical production of the book is beyond reproach--you really are getting fine quality in a book that will last. The writing is easily accessible, though at times a bit too chatty for my tastes. Aside from a few minor typographical errors (reference to an antique Winchester Model 1985, for example) the read is enjoyable and just plain fun. With a good editor the 2nd edition will be a true classic.
